We’re here to make it easy and comfortable for you. Our goal is to help you feel confident and supported.

Before We Arrive

  • Forms First: After you book, you’ll get an email with intake forms (consent, intake, health screenings). Please fill them out at least 24 hours before your visit, or we might need to reschedule.

On the Day of Your Visit

  • Our Arrival Time: We do our best to be on time! Sometimes, appointments run a little longer, or traffic/weather can cause delays. If we’ll be more than 15 minutes late, we’ll call you.
  • How Long It Takes: Initial visits are usually 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow-up visits are 60-90 minutes. Please plan accordingly.

What Not to Worry About (Seriously!)

We’ve been new parents too, so we get it. Don’t worry about showering, putting on nice clothes, or cleaning your house! We care about you and your baby, not appearances.

Simple Steps for Your Visit

  1. Feed Yourself and Baby: Try to eat something before we arrive, or have snacks/drinks nearby for yourself. And please don’t make your baby wait to eat! Hungry babies can be stressed and might not feed well during our visit. If your baby is hungry soon before we arrive, a small “snack” before we come is a great way to tide them over.
  2. Bring a Buddy (Optional): If you can, have a partner or support person join us. An extra set of eyes and ears is always helpful, and having support is a big part of breastfeeding success!
  3. Prepare Your Pump: If you have questions about your breast pump, please have it set up with the parts washed and ready to go.
  4. Please Secure Pets: We love animals! But if you have a dog, please put them in another room or outside during our visit. New babies can make pets act unexpectedly, even if they’ve never been aggressive before. It helps us keep everyone safe and calm.
  5. Check Your Insurance Coverage: If you have insurance questions, check this page.
  6. Relax! Even if you can’t do all of this, that’s okay! Just reaching out for support is a huge step. Our goal is to give you a plan that helps you feel confident, enjoy parenting, and build a healthy bond with your baby.

What to Expect During Our Visit

  • When we arrive, we’ll find a flat surface to set up and clean our baby scale.
  • Unless your baby needs to eat right away, we’ll start by asking you questions and taking notes on our computer (we use a secure online system).
    • Important: If you live in an area with no Verizon cell service, please let us know before we arrive so we can plan ahead.
  • We’ll assess your breast and your baby’s mouth. We always ask permission before touching. With your permission, we might take photos of your baby to look at together and to share with your healthcare provider.
  • We’ll watch at least one feeding. We’ll help with latching pumping, and/or bottle feeding, depending on your needs.
  • You’ll get clear advice, resources, and referrals if you need them.
  • There will be plenty of time for all your questions!
  • The same day, you’ll receive a written, personalized care plan. We’ll also send a report to your and your baby’s doctors within 5 business days or sooner.

We’re Here for You

  • Most feeding challenges take practice, hard work, and time to get better. Follow-up visits are often very helpful.
  • You’ll get 14 days of messaging support from us between visits. Please use it! If we don’t hear from you, we assume everything is going well. We truly care and want to do everything we can to help you feel supported and successful as a parent.
