To help you feel confident and prepared for your virtual consultation, here’s what you can do:

1. Complete Your Forms:

  • Once your consultation is approved, you’ll receive an email with consent/HIPAA and intake forms.
  • These secure online forms take about 15 minutes to complete.
  • Please submit them at least 24 hours before your consultation to avoid cancellation.

2. Have Your Baby Ready & Consider a Helper:

  • Your baby should be available during the consultation.
  • We recommend having a second person with you to help position your camera (phone, tablet, or laptop). This helps us get the best view of you and your baby, and it’s always helpful to have another set of eyes and ears!

3. Optional: Send Videos for Best Assessment:

  • If you don’t have a second person available, or simply want to make the most of our time, sending videos beforehand is highly recommended!
  • Helpful videos include:
    • Your baby latching or attempting to latch (first few minutes, close-up of mouth at breast).
    • Your full body position while holding your baby.
    • A close-up of your baby crying (like during a diaper change) to help us see their oral anatomy.
    • Your baby bottle feeding (if applicable), including a close-up of their face/mouth and their full body.
    • An oral motor assessment of your baby
  • All videos will be securely stored in our HIPAA-compliant system. You can easily upload them through the message or documents section of your Practice Better client portal.

4. Gather Your Information & Equipment:

  • Breastfeeding Equipment: If you have questions about pumps or other feeding tools, please have them nearby and ready.
  • Feeding Log: A list of past weights, feeding times/lengths, and any supplementation amounts will give us a clearer picture of your needs.

5. Insurance (If Applicable):

  • If you have questions about insurance coverage, please contact your insurance company before our meeting. More information is available at this link.

Most importantly: Relax! We’re so glad you reached out for support. Our goal is to provide you with a personalized care plan that helps you feel confident in your feeding journey, enjoy parenting, and build a healthy bond with your baby!
